Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a chronic disease and describes the appearance of endometrium-like tissue (tissue similar to the uterine lining) outside the uterine cavity. Endometriosis is often found in the abdominal cavity, between the bowel and vagina or behind the uterus or on the ovaries, where it can form cysts.
Approximately every 10th woman of childbearing age is affected. At the same time, endometriosis is found in almost half of women with unfulfilled desire for a child.
The cause of endometriosis is not known. However, there are various plausible theories from which conventional and complementary medical treatment approaches can be derived.
