Ultrasound
Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is an imaging method that produces graphic representations of the inner organs, by means of ultrasonic waves. Ultrasound is pain-free, uncomplicated, and facilitates the discovery of any irregularities in soft tissue structures and enables us to assess their function.
We perform ultrasound scans of the thyroid, the heart and blood vessels, as well as of the stomach and abdominal organs.
Kidney- and gallstones show up easily and any danger of impeding colics can be assessed; the structure and size of abdominal organs can be visualised. Pathological changes, condition of the blood vessels, heart function and much more, can be evaluated.
If needed, we complement the ultrasound test with ‘Doppler sonography’ in order to assess blood-flow, or to discover and evaluate heart valve defects, narrowing of blood vessels (stenosis), occlusions or shunts.
